About Tanya Maas
Tanya is an accomplished lawyer who assists clients in navigating the sensitive and complicated employment relationship. Focusing her practice primarily in employment law, Tanya also has experience helping clients with personal injury, residential tenancy, breach of contract and debt recovery matters. In her employment law practice, Tanya has extensive experience in issues relating to wrongful dismissal, notice periods, human rights and workplace investigations.
Tanya was called to the bar in British Columbia in 2020. She started her career in the legal industry working as a legal assistant and attended the University of Victoria to pursue her law degree in 2020. Tanya articled in Kamloops and has practiced there since.
Tanya is adept at negotiating settlements that are favourable to her clients. She believes that clients deserve relentless protection of their legal interests within legal and ethical bounds and an aggressive approach to litigation.
Tanya recognizes that clients seek legal assistance during stressful times in their lives and careers. She takes a collaborative approach with her clients so they are provided with strong legal advice and support so they feel confident in their decisions throughout their matters. It is important for her to take a compassionate yet professional approach for clients, ensuring that their needs are being heard and addressed.
Tanya has extensive litigation experience and has conducted trials, special chambers hearings and regular chambers hearings. While not afraid to advocate for clients in the litigation realm, she emphasizes and encourages the importance of trying to resolve matters outside of court. She also has experience in mediation and other forms of alternative dispute resolution.
Besides representing clients in courts throughout British Columbia, Tanya also represents clients at tribunals and regulating bodies that include the:

- Employment Standards Tribunal;
- Residential Tenancy Branch;
- Farm Industry Review Board
Outside of work, Tanya enjoys spending time with friends and family, gardening, spending time in nature, and travelling with her family.
